Gosh, since January, and even that wasn't anything substantial. Fun, but...

My last "real" post, I guess was last year. I never updated that my Grammy passed away in May of last year, just before Mother's Day. She hadn't been doing well for awhile, and near the end must have known what was to happen, as she demanded that she be brought to the hospital. The family gathered there on and off for a few days before she slipped away. It was a beautiful day for the service, saw some family members from way back at the German club afterwards (and wow the spread of food)... My aunt and uncle (well, one set, dad's oldest of five, after all) moved in with Grampy a few months later- he has a two-family house- and my aunt has done wonders getting the place cleaned up and like new again.

Also...
Later in the year, my job announced a move to a new building. Technically a building they already owned, versus the current campus of buildings they were just leasing? A pretty new, shiny, technologically updated and pretty green building... about 10 miles from where I grew up. *facepalm* I moved to be closer to work, after all. So we started looking around for a new place and realized it was maybe time to be super grownup and stop looking for apartments and start looking for a house... We actually put in a bid on the above-referenced aunt and uncle's house, but evidently it was too close a deal for the banks to be okay with it, or something? Yeah. So our realtor found a house up for short sale, built in 1900 but with recently updated electric, a new water heater, furnace & oil tank in good condition, strong roof (hello, winter storm Irene)... we put in a bid on that and the bank said yes!

We officially closed on December 5th, and moved in on Christmas Eve day :-D Now here we are coming up on our first Halloween in the house...!! :-D So excited. (Also, totally claiming my "house" tag as being about the house, versus Fox's medical drama starring Hugh Laurie. 'cause I'm lazy that way)

So yeah, that was crazy.

Okay, what's gone on in 2012 that I haven't talked about yet... some highlights!

January
Early on my stepmom decided to become an owner of an indoor amusement park, then Skater City, now That Fun Spot, soon to be... well, more on that later. I visited a dietician in January after getting a pre-diabetes diagnosis and started a carb counting sort of diet...plan...thing. (Goal: lose 40 pounds by May)
February
The joys of home ownership, furnace stopped working, $200 to fix.
March
This is when our office was supposed to move... delayed! Commuting 40min each way. Booooo. Kim went to Miami with her friend for Wrestlemania! I got the house to myself for a weekend :-)
April
Not much but sporadically working at That Fun Spot for my parents...I bought a Nook :)
May
Avengers! Srsly obsessed with this movie. Badly. Wow.
June
Supposed to move office, delayed. Still commuting :-P Family medical stuff, car DRAMA.
July
The Dark Knight Rises!! Epic. Awesome. Can't wait for the dvd release.
August
FINALLY MOVED TO OUR NEW OFFICE. Hello, 10 mile drive to work that I don't even have to get on the highway for! :-D
Oh yeah, and CREATION CON IN JERSEY! I drove down by myself, saw some great Q&As, and later got autos from Mark Sheppard, Mark Pellegrino and Sebastian Roche. OH YEAH, and I met Jim Beaver. Had him sign an 8x10 for me, told him how much I appreciated his book... he was awesome. Got my photo taken with him, it was up on our wall at home almost immediately afterwards :-D BOBBY \o/
Kim's birthday was celebrated with another viewing of Dark Knight Rises, dinner with her friend from Mass, and a trip to Six Flags wherein we learned we are too old to ride the rides in 80+ degree weather all day.
Later on that month, we all found out that my stepmom was sick again, so...that sucks. She's on top of everything, doing everything she's supposed to be and then some to fight back.
September
We closed out the summer by doing Avengers & Dark Knight Rises at the drive-in. AWESOME. Went to the Big E, babysat for a friend's actual baby (three months old to the day! So tiny! So funny to watch! :-D)
October
And here we come to present day, wow. Not a lot going on this month aside from ongoing family medical stuff. Looking forward to our first Halloween, hoping we get a bunch of trick-or-treaters!! :-D I've decorated a bit, have an awesome red light bulb for our entryway... I'll have pics on twitter, I'm sure.

Wow. This was a lot to cram in. Apologies.

So...yeah. I have a paid lj right now but I'm thinking I'm going to let it expired. Houses are expensive, yo.
